A pallet wrapper is exactly what it sounds like. It is a piece of machinery that wraps pallets. Typically, the pallets are wrapped in shrink wrap to prepare them for transport or storage, helping to ensure all of the boxes remain in place. If you are looking to purchase a pallet wrapper, one of the decisions that you may not even know that you need to make is deciding on a type of pallet wrapper for sale. There are three primary types of pallet wrappers. Here is a bit more information about each option.
A turntable pallet wrapper is one of the most common types of pallet wrappers on the market. The pallet is placed on a turntable. The turntable then begins to spin, wrapping the pallet in plastic wrap in a circular motion. This can work to wrap items that are a variety of shapes, not just items that are perfectly square or rectangular. However, one of the downsides to a turntable is that they do have size and weight limits, so you need to ensure the items you wrap will fit within the weight and size limits.
A rotary arm works in a similar fashion to a turntable, aside from the turntable element of it. A rotary arm rotates around the pallet itself, wrapping the contents on the pallet in a circular motion. A rotary arm is able to be used around pallets that are overweight or over-sized and may not fit on a turntable. A rotary arm is more expensive than a turntable wrapper, but eliminates size restrictions.
A stretch hooder is different than both a turntable and rotary arm pallet wrapper in that the wrapping does not go around the pallet in a circular motion. A stretch hooder uses a piece of stretched plastic and stretches it from the top down over the pallet, much like you would put a shirt on over your head and roll it down over your body. A stretch hooder tends to use plastic that is thicker and more durable than plastic wrapping, making this a great way to stabilize unstable loads.
When you are looking to purchase pallet wrappers for sale, one of the decisions you have to make is selecting the type of pallet wrapper that you need. Each type of pallet wrapper wraps a pallet in a different manner and can fit different sizes and shapes of pallets. Paying close attention to how each type of wrapper functions and how it wraps can help you select the wrapper that is ideal for the items that you need to wrap to ensure they remain on a pallet during transport or while being stored.
